Copyright and illegal content
How to tell us about content on Bienvue that infringes your rights or violates the law.

Hosts write the guides shown on Bienvue, and some are public. If you believe something in a guide, a photo or a public guide page infringes your copyright or is otherwise illegal, tell us as described below. Point us to it by its web address, or describe where you saw it (for example, the property and the television or page it appeared on).
Copyright notices (DMCA)
We respond to notices of claimed infringement under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. § 512. Our designated agent to receive them is:

Your notice must be in writing and include:
- your physical or electronic signature, as the copyright owner or a person authorized to act for them;
- identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed, or, for several works, a representative list of them;
- identification of the material you claim is infringing and that should be removed, with enough information for us to find it, such as its web address;
- your name, postal address, telephone number and email address;
- a statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law; and
- a statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.
A notice missing these elements may not be valid. Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), anyone who knowingly misrepresents that material is infringing may be liable for damages. Consider whether the use may be a fair use before you send one.
When we receive a valid notice, we remove or disable access to the material promptly and tell the host, with a copy of the notice and our reasons. A place photo, which hosts share with each other for the same place, is removed from every guide that uses it, and every host using it is told.
Counter-notices
If you are the host and believe the material was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may send our Copyright Agent a counter-notice that includes:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- identification of the material that was removed and where it appeared before it was removed;
- a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification;
- your name, address and telephone number; and
- a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the U.S. federal district court for the judicial district in which your address is located or, if your address is outside the United States, for any judicial district in which we may be found (including the District of Colorado), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice or their agent.
We send a valid counter-notice to the person who sent the original notice. Unless they tell us within 10 business days that they have filed a court action to stop the infringement, we restore the material within 10 to 14 business days of receiving the counter-notice.
Repeat infringers
In appropriate circumstances we close the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe. We close an account that has had content removed after three valid infringement notices within 12 months, unless a counter-notice for that content succeeded, and we may close an account sooner for a clear or serious infringement.
Other illegal content, including under the EU Digital Services Act
To report content you believe is illegal for another reason — for example under the EU Digital Services Act, or because it is defamatory, fraudulent or discloses someone’s personal data unlawfully — write to [email protected]. So we can act on it, include:
- a sufficiently substantiated explanation of why you believe the content is illegal;
- a clear indication of exactly where it is, such as its web address, and anything else needed to find it;
- your name and email address, unless the report concerns child sexual abuse material or another offense for which EU law lets you report anonymously; and
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the information and allegations in your report are accurate and complete.
We confirm that we received your report. We review it promptly, carefully and objectively, with a person making every decision; we don’t use automated tools to decide. We tell you what we decided and how you can challenge it, and if we remove or restrict the content, we tell the host why, as our Terms of Service describe. If the content suggests someone’s life or safety is at risk, contact the police first; we also inform the competent authorities when we learn of it.
Place data
When a host adds a nearby place to their guide, its details (name, address, opening hours, website) can come from OpenStreetMap, found through Geoapify. That data is © OpenStreetMap contributors and available under the Open Database License; see openstreetmap.org/copyright. Every place filled in this way carries that credit wherever it shows, on televisions and phones as well as the web. To ask for the OpenStreetMap-derived data we hold under the Open Database License, write to [email protected].
A place’s photos can also come from Wikimedia Commons and Openverse, when a host chooses one. Each is used under its own Creative Commons license (CC BY or CC BY-SA) or is in the public domain, is shown resized and otherwise unchanged, and is credited with its author and license wherever it appears, linked to its source where the screen allows.

Bienvue is built with open-source software and fonts. Their licenses and notices:

The TV apps and bienvue-local carry their own notices; bienvue-local licenses prints them.
