Accessibility

We want every host and every guest to be able to use Bienvue, whatever their abilities and whatever device they use.

The standard we aim for

We aim for our web pages — the dashboard, sign-up and sign-in, guide links, public guide pages, and bienvue.com — to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We build with semantic HTML, keyboard access, visible focus, text alternatives for our own images, sufficient color contrast and respect for reduced-motion settings, and we check new work against these as we build it.

Where we know we fall short

• No formal audit yet. Bienvue has not been audited by an independent accessibility specialist, so we don’t claim that it conforms to WCAG 2.2 AA.
• Television apps. Our apps for Roku and other televisions are designed to be read across a room and used with a remote control. WCAG was written for the web and does not map fully onto them, and we have not yet tested them with the television platforms’ screen readers, such as Roku’s Audio Guide.
• Hosts’ content. Guides are written by hosts. Their photos may lack text descriptions, and the colors a host chooses for a guide may not have enough contrast.
